PRESENTATION TOPICS :

STRESS MASTERY >>>

Always Change a Losing Game

Most of the stress that most of us have is self-generated. We drink too much caffeine, get too little sleep, have unrealistic expectations, overload our schedules, etc. I playfully call these "losing games". The principle from sport to "Always Change a Losing Game" applies equally well to life situations. The key is to identify our losing games and find ways to change them.

You Have More Control Than You Think

When people feel stressed, they often feel a loss of control (and vice versa). An important way to lower stress is to increase feelings of control. This presentation explores how to take control of the three parts of our lives over which we have the most control: the way we think, the way we behave and the lifestyle choices we make. By taking more control in these areas we have much more energy and resilience to deal with the external stressors in our lives over which we have the least control.

Manage Your Energy – Manage Your Stress

Bank accounts work on a simple premise: you have to put money in before you can take money out. Our bodies function the same way. We need to generate and store energy before we can use it. Our bodies are beautifully designed to summon quick energy in stressful situations, but we need rest and recovery time between episodes of stress to restore our energy for the next time it’s needed. This interesting and entertaining presentation looks at ways to reduce stress and generate energy at the same time.

The New Stress Research Is In
– Our Grandmothers Were Right!

People often ask what’s new in the field of stress. Ironically, a lot of the new research is simply confirming (with elegant science) what our grandmothers knew generations ago: good nutrition, adequate sleep, regular exercise, relaxation and social support all pay off. This presentation explores the new findings that support the old ideas – and playfully shows how getting back to basics will make a huge difference.

Stress: The Epidemic We Can’t Avoid

This presentation acknowledges that stress is a fact of life and even though we can't relieve it entirely, we can reduce it to manageable levels. It explores where stress comes from and tips and techniques for reducing its impact.

Dealing With Pressure At Work and In Life

As life speeds up, most people point to external pressures as the reason why they feel overloaded. However, we also put pressure on ourselves. This presentation looks at how we create this pressure and how we can reduce it.

Managing Stress in a Stressful Environment

Today's workplace has become very dynamic and demanding. In many jobs relentless deadlines, fast-pace and high workloads are the norm. There are ways of managing stress even in these difficult environments. This presentation explores some helpful solutions.

Dealing with the Stress of Success

There's an old piece of wisdom that says, "Be careful what you wish for". Many people who have struggled to get ahead find that stress doesn't diminish with success - they simply trade one set of problems for another. This presentation looks at how to manage your stress and your life once you reach the level of success you've been striving for.

Seven Graphic Ways to Change Your Life

This presentation is especially appealing to visual learners. It uses diagrams to help participants understand how we function, where stress comes from and how to solve the problems that lead to stress.

Taking Care of the Caregiver

This presentation is primarily for people in the helping professions (nurses, doctors, therapists, etc.) But it also applies to people caring for elderly or ailing relatives and family members with special needs. Care-giving is draining, both physically and emotionally. This presentation helps caregivers understand the importance of pacing themselves and taking care of their own needs even while they take care of the needs of others.

How to Enjoy Holiday Stress

December is both a hectic and a joyous time for many people. It's also one of the most stressful times of the year. This presentation looks at some of the causes of holiday stress and specific strategies for reducing the stress in order to enjoy the season more.

CHANGE MASTERY >>>

Staying Afloat When the Water Gets Rough

We're living in a time of unprecedented change. The ability to handle stress (Resilience, Adaptability) has become a survival skill in today's world. This presentation addresses three questions: What will increase your comfort with change? What would make change easier for you? What tools will you need to handle change? It focuses on both thinking strategies and action strategies to increase your change mastery skill-set.

Does Anyone Know What's Going On Here?

One problem in dealing with change is the feeling that changes are happening without rhyme or reason and it's hard to get enthusiastic about them. This presentation addresses questions of why change is happening, but more important, what we can do to handle it.

Embracing Change

Change is difficult and stressful for most people. Our first reaction is often to resist change when it's announced or imposed on us. Change masters and resilient people learn how to embrace change rather than resist it. This presentation explores ways we can move our response to change in a more positive direction.

Some Call It Change - Let's Call It Progress

Not all change produces progress - but progress is impossible without change. One way to handle change is to look at the benefits - e.g. improves deficiencies, new learning, stimulation, opportunity and challenge.

POSITIVE PERSONAL CHANGE >>>

Always Change a Losing Game

Most of the stress that most of us have is self-generated. We drink too much caffeine, get too little sleep, have unrealistic expectations, overload our schedules, etc. I playfully call these "losing games". The principle from sport to "Always Change a Losing Game" applies equally well to life situations. The key is to identify our losing games and find ways to change them.

If It's Not Working, Stop Doing It

Most of the stress that most of us have is self-generated. We drink too much caffeine, get too little sleep, have unrealistic expectations, overload our schedules, etc. I playfully call these "losing games". The principle from sport to "Always Change a Losing Game" applies equally well to life situations. The key is to identify our losing games and find ways to change them.

Change is the Solution, Not the Problem

When we think of change, we usually think of external change that is imposed, unwanted, uninvited and often stressful. However, change can also be a stress reliever and a solution to stress problems. The theme is similar to "Always Change a Losing Game" in that it focuses on the ways in which we create our own stress and positive personal changes we can make to both reduce stress and improve our health and wellbeing.

WORK-LIFE BALANCE >>>

The Lifestyle Balancing Act

With all the demands made on us by work, family and friends, work life balance can seem like a utopian dream. But strategies do exist for improving the ways we live. This presentation explores issues of balancing time, balancing energy and balancing your mindset and self-concept.

The Beliefs That Run Our Lives

Why do we overload our schedules? Why do we check e-mail every hour? Why do we feel guilty when we do or don’t do certain things? The answer lies in a fascinating aspect of how we function: the belief systems we have about the world, other people and ourselves. We have thousands of beliefs, most of which we’re not even aware of. As such, they’re very powerful. They guide and inform our reactions, decisions and behavior. With numerous examples and humorous anecdotes, this presentation explores what beliefs are, how they run our lives and what we can do about them.

Be Good to Yourself AND the Bottom Line

There is a misconception that if you take good care of yourself and your employees, your business won't be as successful as when you're driven and working long hours. The reality is that good health can not only co-exist with business success, but usually promotes it. This presentation focuses on how to be good to yourself and increase your productivity as a result.

Prescription For the Good Life

Some people think of status and money as the secret to a happy life. This presentation explores a healthier and more enduring prescription, including balance, good health, relationships and stimulating work.

HUMOR in the WORKPLACE >>>

Laugh Your Stress Away

This seminar is high energy, high participation and interaction, with a lot of humor, laughter and play. However, while people are laughing they'll also be learning about stress theory and strategies for stress mastery. The emphasis is on fun with the educational component integrated throughout.

Humor on the Job - for Fun and Profit

Today's workplace has become not only fast-paced and stressful, but also more serious than it needs to be. Humor is one of the best antidotes to stress. It also helps to increase productivity because people work best when they're happy and having fun. This dynamic presentation explores what humor is, why it's beneficial and how to integrate it into the workplace.

WELLNESS >>>

Good Health: It's Your Choice

This presentation postulates that a lot of our behavior and lifestyle choices are actually strategies to reduce stress. However, some are more successful than others. And some strategies actually create more problems than they solve. This interactive workshop looks at some of our strategies (which may have become unconscious habits) and explores their impact. It also explores alternative strategies that work better. The key discovery is how much choice we have in the way.

Sleep and Productivity: It’s Time to Wake Up!

We’re a sleep deprived society – and it’s costing us! Fatigue, decreased productivity, motor vehicle and workplace accidents, changes in mood and lowered resistance to infection are some of the effects. How much sleep do we need? How do we know if we’re getting enough? Why are teenagers so droopy in the morning? Combining science, humor and helpful tips, this presentation addresses a vital but often neglected subject.

Investing in Your Health and Yourself

A lot of people invest incredible amounts of time, energy and money to make their businesses or careers a success. They also take great pains to invest money to secure their future. This presentation looks at other forms of investment (in health and wellbeing) which will probably have an even greater impact on the quality of our lives.

BURNOUT >>>

Burn-Out: The Best Treatment is Prevention

Burn-Out is becoming increasingly common in our fast-paced, pressure-filled world. Its effects can be devastating – to individuals, their families and their employers. Treatment usually requires months off work, medication and sometimes even hospitalization. Prevention is the best approach. This presentation discusses how to detect it early and nip it in the bud.

Rescue Yourself from the Brink

Burnout never happens quickly. It usually evolves over many months or years, and there are a lot of signs and signals along the way to alert us to a growing problem. This presentation focuses on the causes of burnout, stages of burnout, and what can be done in the early stages to either prevent the problem or reverse the negative cycles that eventually lead us to the brink.
