Here, Molly talks about “The 4 Types of People You Need In Your Life”

Leading can be lonely, which is why it’s critical to surround yourself with people who make you better every day. No matter what your goals and aspirations, these four types of people will help you grow and get there.

1. The Motivator: The motivator is someone who inspires you. When adversity hits, this person will often help you get back on track. Sometimes it’s his/her words that charge you; other times it’s his/her actions. The motivator understands what drives you and they know how to tap into that energy. My motivator is my Dad who never let a tough childhood be an excuse and has always put his family first. He has always motivated me by the way he behaves—his actions. Growing up with all brothers, my dad treated me just like them. He isn’t a rule follower—in a good way—which probably has a lot to do with the career I chose. My dad plays a perfect game of tug and war between support and driving me, which is why he’s my motivator.

Here, Molly talks about “5 Tools to Re-Build Your Confidence”

Confidence is a main driver for peak performance. Because it is so essential, that’s where the Confidence Toolbox comes in. It’s a huge help when I need confidence the most. From my experience as a sports agent and keynote speaker, I want to share five must-haves for your Confidence Toolbox.

What’s a Confidence Toolbox?

Most of us have things that rattle us. We all encounter the unexpected. The wrinkles and bumps in the road that ding us a little or a lot. Our passion for our purpose can make us vulnerable to taking these curve balls personally.

I think of a Confidence Toolbox as a collection of techniques that I can use to keep my spirits up and my belief in myself at its healthiest level. These tools are always accessible.

I’m confident they will work for you too.

Here, Molly talks about “Why Your Personal Mission Statement Matters”

Recently I was away from home at a personal development retreat, working on crafting my personal mission statement. I was feeling great about my progress when I called my husband, who aside from handling his professional career, was handling all the normal daily issues at home with our three girls.

While I was feeling inspired, rested and focused from my time at the retreat, I could tell my wonderful husband had experienced an exhausting day.  Sometimes those long distance parenting calls can be challenging when you aren’t in the same physical location to support each other.

This call was a bit different, and this moment became a turning point for my work—all because of my personal mission statement. I want to share this process with you so you can see the great value in focusing on your best purpose, the best you, and how it benefits others—especially those closest to you.

In that phone call, I did not default to trying to fix or rescue the situation. I paused to reflect on my 10-word mission statement (To connect, inspire and lead with creative courage and optimism), which guided me to new behavior that was healthier for everyone in my family. Instead of frustration or caving in, I reflected on my mission statement. How could I connect, inspire and lead with creative courage and optimism inside this one conversation with my husband?

As Aristotle said, ‘Excellence is not an act, but a habit.’ We’re establishing the habit of excellence.” – Chris Reynolds, CEO of Investment Planning Counsel

I settled into the last row in the Vancouver Convention Center. It was approaching 8 am and the 19th annual Investment Planning Counsel conference was about to kick off. I was giving the closing presentation on day one so I had carved out most of the day to attend the event, learn from the other speakers and prep for my talk.

CEO Chris Reynolds took the stage first and 60 minutes later I had 5 pages of notes and 3 actionable ideas to help improve my business! I am always interested in the opportunity to listen to a successful entrepreneur and learn about his journey. Chris didn’t disappoint. In fact, he gave a passionate presentation about why the business exists, why the work matters, the very BIG opportunity they plan to capture and precisely how they intend to capture it. You could feel the energy elevate in the room around where this business is going. I was particularly moved by his absolute obsession with creating a world-class customer experience and the roadmap they use to deliver. I caught up with him after the conference to dive a little deeper.

Dr. Lance Secretan | Speaker | Organizational Management & Leadership Expert

Speaker, Dr. Lance SecretanDR. LANCE SECRETAN
The Kind of Capitalism We Need Now

Dr. Lance Secretan is widely acknowledged as one of the most insightful and provocative leadership teachers of our time. He is the former CEO of a Fortune 100 company, university professor, award-winning columnist and author of 15 books about inspiration and leadership. He is a thought leader whose teachings and writings on conscious leadership are courageous, radical and ingenious and have been hailed as among the most original, authentic and effective contributions to leadership thinking currently available.

A recent Gallup poll surveying the level of confidence that Americans have in their institutions reveals a frightening truth – big business is ranked second from the bottom, just above (no surprise here) Congress (see chart).

The best employees are attracted to companies that inspire them – they help organizations to excel. Customers buy products that inspire them – they help organizations to grow. The media supports organizations that inspire them – they help organizations to leverage their reputation. We have the most confidence in those people, organizations, ideas, activities and relationships that inspire us most. And we can’t do this from the second to last position.

There is no better system in the world for creating opportunities, employment and raising standards of living, than capitalism. Equally, there is no greater mechanism in our society for doing damage. Therefore, the purpose of every organization is to make a plan, create a corporate culture, establish a leadership ethos and live a set of principles and values that change the world – for the better, not for the worse.
