# Linda Nazareth

*Economist, Futurist & Future of Work Speaker*

## Biography

Linda Nazareth didn't start out chasing the future of work — she backed into it. After earning an Honours Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Toronto, she took the traditional route first: a government post specializing in labour market and demographic forecasting, followed by years as a Senior Economist at CIBC.

Then she made an unconventional move. While **B**usiness **N**ews **N**etwork was still a start-up, Linda lobbied to have an on-air economist role created for her — a position that didn't exist yet. She spent the next decade as BNN's in-house economist, walking Canadian viewers through the dot-com boom, the 2008 financial crisis, and everything in between, becoming one of the country's few full-time television economists in the process.

It was during those years at BNN that Linda started writing books and speaking to live audiences, and eventually she left daily broadcasting to focus on both full-time. She's now the author of five books, most recently *Working it Out: How to Be Ready for the Redefined Future of Work,* with a sixth, *The End of Entry Level*, arriving in Fall 2026. She writes a regular column for the *Globe and Mail*, hosts the podcast *Work and the Future*, and serves as Senior Fellow for Economics and Population Change at the Macdonald-Laurier Institute. Her commentary has appeared in outlets ranging from the *Wall Street Journal* to *Wired*.

Today, Linda brings that same economist's eye to the stage — translating shifts in AI, demographics, and the global economy into strategy that organizations can actually use. Her clients span *American Express, Microsoft, Fidelity, Marcus Hotels & Resorts,* and *The Economist Magazine,* among many others. Whatever the audience, her message stays consistent: the future of work isn't something to brace for — it's something you can plan for, if you understand where the trends are heading.

## Presentation Topics

Linda Nazareth is based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She delivers keynote presentations, workshops, fireside chats, moderated Q&A, and other presentation formats on a wide variety of topics. Each presentation is unique, customized and tailored for audiences, industries, conferences and event formats.

### The Global Economy in Context

Trade, tariffs, U.S., oil prices, interest rates, population change, currency markets, the markets and more – what is the big picture and how do you make the right decisions to stay ahead of the curve? How do you fit into the mix – and how do you plan for your own industry and investments in a world that is seemingly in turmoil? In this timely presentation Linda Nazareth looks at the economic outlook, the opportunities in the face of challenges, and the way that the larger picture will affect your own business interests.

### Working it Out: How to Be Ready for the New World of Work

The world is changing and so is the very notion of ‘work’. For years we have been told that our aging workforce will mean a shortage of workers in many industries. More recently, the narrative has changed to one where AI and robots do everyone’s work, and there are not enough jobs to go around. Which view of the future is correct? More important, how will our lives and organizations change as we navigate the changing realities?

**In this much-requested presentation based on her book of the same title**, Linda Nazareth casts an economist’s eye to the way the big trends are changing our world. From looking at the way global change, demographics, and technology are coming together to reshape the work world through to examining the challenges for individuals, businesses, and governments, she sketches a vision that is both unsettling and exciting.

### Economorphics: The Trends Turning Today into Tomorrow

From technological disruption to shifting demographics to climate issues, huge forces are at play and they are causing the world we know to morph into a new one. What are the trends taking today into tomorrow, and how can organizations best prepare for what is ahead? In Economorphics , Linda Nazareth talks about the dozens of things she sees happening, and the challenges and opportunities they present to the economy, the labor market and the financial markets – and to your industry as well.

### The Super Seven: The Soft Skills Leaders Need in a Tough World

[Video Link](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqwPV-YqfME) - We are in a world in flux with megatrends reshaping our economy. The leaders that meet the challenges head on will need to have a set of skills that can be called ‘The Super Seven’ a set of characteristics that include resilience, creativity, empathy, motivation and self-awareness, curiosity, service orientation and teaching and mentoring. These may be thought of as soft skills, but in fact are power skills and the leaders that use them will be the ones that can best navigate the future.

In this compelling presentation, economist and futurist Linda Nazareth sketches out the challenges for leaders and then talks about why the Super Seven will serve them as they help their teams deal with disruption. Using stories and examples, she combines content with entertainment making the case for why the the organizations and leaders that tap into the Super Seven will have an edge in a world where every advantage matters.

Either way, she will provide food for thought and give your leaders the information they need to move your organization into the rapidly-changing future.

### Leadership in a Time of Transformation

The next decade will be a time of transformation, a time when waves of disruption rock the economy and the world that we know. The leadership challenge ahead will be unprecedented: decision-makers will face a never-ending need to think quickly and adapt instantaneously to change while at the same time crafting the best long-term path and inspiring confidence in those around them.

In this forward-looking presentation, economist Linda Nazareth talks about the forces that will re-make the economy in the years ahead and the challenge that they will pose in terms of leadership. Using examples of how companies have coped with previous disruptions she will look both at the lessons from the past as well as how and why leaders must make their own history as they deal with what lies ahead.

### Resilience in a Time of Economic Disruption

Bouncing back has always been important, but has there ever been a time when businesses got jolted in the way that is true today? Megatrends like climate change and fourth industrial revolution are rocking our world, and every business has to adjust, and quickly. Throw in some economic and political shocks and you have a world that must change on a dime. Only the resilient will survive.

In **Resilience in a Time of Disruption**, economist Linda Nazareth explores the concept of resilience, looking at why it is suddenly one of the most important characteristics for companies and their workers to acquire. How are successful organizations dealing with the accelerated pace of change that is becoming the norm? How should companies plan for a time for the possibility that their well-crafted plans have to be scrapped, again? And how do you develop a workforce that thrives in a time of disruption? It Is a brave new world, but with this presentation you will feel that you are ready to deal with whatever it brings.

### Event Moderator

Linda is also an experienced and skilled event moderator who can draw on her own expertise to the degree required to help your organization and its leaders tell their own story.
