About Nav Bhatia
Nav Bhatia is the Official Toronto Raptors Superfan, a Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductee (2021), and one of Canada's most sought-after keynote speakers on diversity, resilience, and immigrant success. Recognized worldwide for his courtside seat at every Raptors home game since 1995, Nav turned a passion for basketball into a platform for building inclusive communities.
Before basketball fame, Nav immigrated to Canada in 1984 with almost nothing and became Hyundai Canada's top salesman, later owning two dealerships. His story of overcoming racial discrimination as a Sikh newcomer — and using sport to unite people across cultures — has made him a top-rated speaker for corporate events, conferences, and DEI initiatives across North America.
Through the Superfan Nav Bhatia Foundation, he has brought thousands of children of all backgrounds to Raptors games and partnered with organizations like TIFF, World Vision, Tissot, and WE Charity to build basketball courts and community programs worldwide.

Nav Bhatia's Bio
Few fans have a permanent seat in NBA history — literally. Nav Bhatia's courtside spot at Scotiabank Arena has made him the most recognizable face in Toronto Raptors fandom for three decades running.
When Nav Bhatia landed in Canada in 1984, he had a mechanical engineering degree from India, a few hundred dollars in his pocket, and nowhere to use either. Discrimination shut doors on his engineering career, so he pivoted to car sales — a decision that would eventually make him a legend, just not in the industry he expected.
Bhatia didn't just sell cars; he dominated. He became the top-performing salesperson at a Toronto Hyundai dealership and went on to own two dealerships of his own. But it's a decision he made in 1995 that turned him into a Canadian cultural fixture: he bought courtside season tickets to a brand-new NBA franchise called the Toronto Raptors, and he hasn't missed a home game since.
That single seat — night after night, season after season — earned him a nickname that stuck: Superfan. It also became something much bigger. As a turban-wearing Sikh man in a courtside seat usually reserved for celebrities and executives, Bhatia became a visible, unmistakable symbol that basketball — and Canada — belonged to everyone. In 2019, he was the first fan in NBA history to have his name engraved on the championship trophy alongside the team. Two years later, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inducted him, again a first for any fan.
Off the court, Bhatia has spent decades channeling his platform into community work. His foundation brings kids from all backgrounds — many who'd never otherwise set foot in an arena — to Raptors games, and has funded basketball courts and youth programs across Canada and internationally.
Today, Bhatia speaks to corporate audiences, conferences, and organizations across North America about the things his life has taught him firsthand: what it actually takes to integrate as a newcomer, how discrimination shows up and how to confront it, and why inclusion isn't a policy — it's a seat you choose to give someone.
