Jennifer Botterill

Three Time Olympic Gold Medalist | NHL & Sportsnet Analyst


Jennifer Botterill is one of Canada’s most successful athletes, achieving Olympic glory on numerous occasions. A member of the Canadian Women’s Hockey Team for 14 years, Botterill attended four Olympic games, winning three gold medals and one silver medal. She was responsible for the assist that won gold at the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games. Embracing the chance to connect with audiences, Botterill shares valuable lessons she’s learned on the way to becoming a champion.

Botterill is a graduate of Harvard University and the only two-time winner of the Patty Kazmaier award, which honours the top player in women’s college hockey. She is also a five-time world champion and was twice named the most valuable player of the World Championship tournament.

Currently (2021) Jennifer Botterill is part of "Hockey Night in Canada" as a hockey analyst on Saturdays and also part of their broadcast team for Sportsnet. She also covers the NHL this season on their Hockey Central show (often the Thursday and Friday shows). She will also be doing intermission segments for games in the NHL’s North Division. Botterill will share her perspective on the games and provide insights to the national audience regarding developments throughout the hockey season.

Jennifer Botterill has also worked as a studio analyst for TSN, a hockey specialist with CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada, and as a guest on TSN’s Off the Record. In 2014, Botterill was a sports commentator for CBC at the Sochi Winter Olympic Games.Jennifer Botteril has taken several leadership and mentorship roles within the sports community and the greater community at large. She has worked on projects for the International Olympic Committee and the International Ice Hockey Federation, and is currently an ambassador for Right to Play. She has also worked with charities such as the Special Olympics, Kidsport, Children’s Wish Foundation, SickKids Hospital, CanFund, Hockey Canada Foundation, and Canadian Cancer Society.

Her career is inspired by her family. Her father is a renowned sports psychologist, her mother competed in two Olympic Games as a speedskater, and her brother is a three-time Stanley Cup champion with the Pittsburgh Penguins and is currently the general manager for the Buffalo Sabres.
