Born and raised in Russell, Manitoba, Jon Montgomery grew up playing hockey and idolizing hometown hero Theo Fleury — never imagining his path to Olympic gold would run through a sport he hadn't yet discovered.
Montgomery kept his eyes open for the right opportunity, and when it appeared in skeleton racing, he pursued it with everything he had.
